Established on the 1st January 1869 with a strength of 10 this force took over the duties of the Oxford University Police and the Oxford Night Police. At the time of amalgamation in 1968 its strength was 315.

Description: Dark blue body & bonnet, black chassis; black roof; mid brown seats; black grille; chrome plated parts; brass tool box top cover; chrome 12 spoke wheels; clear perspex windows; OXFORD CITY POLICE emblem on both van sides; 'POLICE HEADQUARTERS, TOWN HALL, BLUE BOAR ST, OXFORD' in small silver text on bottom of van sides; 'POLICE' in white lettering on front of cab roof and on rear doors; AC158 numberplate on rear.
